Alexandra – if not seen, you don’t exist
Alexandra Charles became a cultural icon in the 1960s as the “Queen of the Night,” when her legendary club Alexandra’s reshaped Stockholm’s entertainment scene. It was a place where glamour, glitter, jet-setters and everyday people collided to create something entirely new. When the nightlife era faded, Alexandra shifted her energy to championing women’s health, founding the influential 1.6 Million Club. Now, as she confronts the prospect of losing her sight, she seeks recognition and understanding for the person she has always been.
Through unique archival footage and richly detailed new interviews, Guldbagge-winning filmmaker Olivia Kastebring paints a vivid, intimate portrait of a woman whose life has been shaped by both resilience and vulnerability. The film blends fresh testimony with vibrant glimpses into Alexandra’s past, revealing an inspiring story lived fully, fiercely, and unapologetically. I contributed to the production as B-camera.
