Pauls Grandpa
Pauls Opa (2007) is a children’s short film set in Hamburg and developed by the team that had produced Tanzmäuse two years earlier. Directors Ove Sander and Maren Erdmann bring to the screen a gentle yet richly detailed story, supported by meticulous art-direction and handcrafted production design that critics singled out for praise. The film enjoyed a strong festival run: it was selected for Germany’s children’s film programme “Young Collection 38 Kinderfilm” in Bremen alongside its creators Sander and Erdmann.
It was also nominated for Best Short Film at the Studio Hamburg Nachwuchspreis 2007, indicating its recognition among emerging German filmmakers.
