Mannen från Snåsa
In my role assisting editor Michal Leszczylowski, I worked on the documentary Doing Good (Norwegian title Mannen fra Snåsa) directed by Margreth Olin. The film presents 22 life-changing encounters with legendary Norwegian healer Joralf Gjerstad, who over six decades has welcomed more than 50,000 visitors to his home in Snåsa.
The documentary dives into powerful stories: survivors of bullying, victims of surgical mishaps, terminally ill patients and people living with anxiety—all drawn to Joralf’s reputation for healing. Through their journeys, the film raises profound questions about the nature of compassion, belief and what it means to help another human being. Olin describes the film as “a film about the importance of hope” and wanted to show not the supernatural, but the raw human dimension of connection and healing.
On the production I supported the editorial workflow, handling sequence prep, material logging and collaborating closely with Leszczylowski to ensure the story’s emotional arc was clear and authentic.
